how is she doing it ?

Writer: paige melcherpaige melcher

hey y'all!

i get this question ALL the time. how are you paying for your travels? how are you doing it being so young? do you have a job? or my favorite- comments like, "bet your dad's credit card hurts." to that, i have to say, yes, i'm sure it does hurt due to my mother's shopping addiction, but i promise it is not because of me. thank you, sir, that has never been out of the country.

but to understand how, i must tell you why i started- ROCIO! ROCIO! ROCIO! the woman that actually changed my life. i thank God for her every day. i was working a cute little college job to afford my shopping addiction (thank you, mother). rocio was my manager, which is actually hilarious now. we started chatting about what was next.

woman of the hour,
woman of the hour,

she introduced me to this foreign concept of traveling after college. i was in absolute awe. i impulsively said, "i want to come." she said, "absolutely." i replied, "no, i'm being completely serious, so think about it for a few days, then get back to me." she said, "i don't need a few days." i thought to myself, God is answering my prayers.

a few weeks later, i made an appointment with my academic advisor to see if it was possible to get all my classes online. not to my surprise- because i had luckily been getting the majority of my classes online since i started college—it was completely possible. they just said i had to make sure to be first in my queue to ensure i got the first pick. done and done. i got everything online and booked my flight to madrid.

rocio is truly one of my biggest blessings. i remember feeling stuck, caught in the same cycle every day. she pulled me out of that. i prayed to God for a sister like rocio. THANK YOU, ROCIO.
